Blood Orange and Cinnamon Rose Energy Bites

Okay so sometimes snacks are a little hard for me to figure out from day to day. Sure I love veggies & dip, trail mix, cut fruit, and smoothies BUT sometimes I just want something chocolatey, or salty, or well just not “healthy” feeling. This is why I love having things like energy balls or bliss balls hanging around!

If you read my post a few weeks ago you already know exactly how much I LOVE energy/bliss balls and that I always try to keep some kicking around in the the freezer so I will not go over ALL of it again. But if you are curious you can check it out all the reasons here.

But before we skip right to the recipe for my latest Blood Orange and Cinnamon Rose Energy Balls let me tell you a little bit about what makes these babes extra special.

  • They are the best of all worlds when it comes to macros to make sure that your energy is stabilized! They have a good healthy dose of healthy fats and proteins from the walnuts, chia, hemp, AND they have a great source of healthy carbohydrates from the dates.

  • they are FILLED to the brim with reproductive hormone balancing goodness between the raw cacao, maca, and rose petals.

  • The spice from the cinnamon adds a nice warming note that also acts as a blood sugar stabilizer!

  • The juice/zest from the blood orange, and the raw cacao are super high in Vitamin C and other antioxidants which help to boost immune the immune system and are amazing for healthy glowing skin!

  • And last but not least, because realistically I could go on and on and on, the combination of the cinnamon, blood orange and rose sounds like it might be a weird combination but TRUST me it is seriously heaven on earth!

Now let’s do this thing!!!

Blood Orange and Cinnamon Rose Energy Bites

Ingredients:

2 cups Medjool Dates pitted

1 1/2 cups Walnuts

1/2 cup Coconut Flakes

1/4 cup Hemp Hearts

2 tbsp Chia Seeds

1/4 cup Raw Cacao

2 tsp Cinnamon

1 tsp Maca Powder

Zest and Juice of 2 small Blood Orange

Pinch of Salt

1 cup of Dark Melting Chocolate of choice

1/4 cup of dried , edible Rose Petals

How to:

  1. Place walnuts, hemp hearts, chia, coconut, dates, cacao, cinnamon, maca, salt and the juice/zest of 1 blood orange in a high speed food processor and process until mixture starts to stick together.

  2. Roll into 1 inch balls and place on a lined tray.

  3. Place your melting chocolate and the juice from the second blood orange in a medium glass bowl and place the glass bowl in a medium sauce pan over medium low heat to melt. Make sure to stir frequently so the chocolate does not burn. If you chocolate is too thick to pour you can stir in 1 tbsp of coconut oil to help thin it out.

  4. Once chocolate is melted pour over all the balls and top each off with rose petals or orange zest before placing in the freezer for about 1 hours.

  5. Once chocolate has completely solidified you are ready to start snacking!


Store energy balls in a glass air tight container in the fridge fro up to 1 week, or in the freezer for up to 1 month.

You can also customize this by skip the chocolate coating and roll them in some coconut flakes with some rose petals and orange zest sprinkled in.
